How To Add Fuel To Your Tank on Your Own

PLEASE NOTE: THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS APPLY ONLY
TO SYSTEMS THAT BURN HOME HEATING OIL

If you have not run out of fuel yet but are about to, follow these instructions:

Step 1:

Find your nearest local gas station that sells DIESEL FUEL (Diesel pumps typically have a GREEN handle)

Step 2:

Purchase 10-20 gallons and pour the diesel fuel into your tank via the fill pipe located outside your house (unless it is an outdoor tank then the fill is typically right on the tank)

 

WARNING! NEVER USE AUTOMOBILE GAS!

Doing so could result in injury and/or death as well as cause damage to equipment or personal property.

 

If you have already run out of fuel, follow these instructions:

Step 1:

Repeat the steps listed above (You will need at least 10 gallons in your tank to restart it)

Step 2:

Bleed the air out of your oil lines

Step 3:

Restart your furnace/boiler

 

To restart your system you can search on Google/Youtube for DIY videos on how to bleed air out of the oil lines and restart your furnace/boiler.
